The number of business unitsi in an area is determined by the industries in the region, their direct economic exposure and the typical size of business units within the industry.

This section examines the composition of business units in the Kapiti Coast District by broad 1-digit ANZSIC06 classifications as well as the more detailed 54 industry classifications used in the National Accounts.
